Poodles
Many people would choose a poodle because of their fantastic characteristics such as being loyal, loving and an overall great companion making them truly “mans best friend”. Another great feature of the poodle is that they are easily trained but on the down side they are high maintenance and required regular grooming in order to show their full potential. Poodles tend to be more of a woman’s pet as they are tiny, cute and have a very thick fluffy coat. They primarily come in three different sizes to choose from, the standard size poodle has a height of 15 inches and above, a miniature size poodle has a height of 10 to 15 inches and the smallest poodles are known as ‘toy poodles’, these are under 10 inches in height and are being breed even smaller.
When it comes to choosing your beloved poodle there are many colors to select from, the more common colors are white, cream, silver, chocolate, black, apricot and blue. There are two more markings which are rarer as not many poodles possess these color schemes, they are known as ‘party’ and the ‘phantom’. Party being black and white and phantom being grey that fades into white.
Many poodle owners take part in contests and dog shows, as the poodle is one of the best show dogs you can come across, their agility and easily trained mannerism enables them to do really well in the agility ring and they love to please the crowd and judges. When training your poodle you have to be careful not to push them into something such as being around other dogs or people, let them regulate by themselves which will reduce the risk of being aggressive towards other humans and dogs.
